Thank you to all of the Volunteers, Student Representatives and Dickerson families for your support of the Family to Family Board Game Drive for Powers Ferry Elementary students again this year. Through your generosity, we were able to provide a board game to all students at Powers Ferry.  We were even able to share some games with the afterschool program at Clay Elementary. Thank you again for your support and enjoy your own Family Game Night!

The Environmental Club wants to thank everyone who participated in our Shoe Drive!  Thanks to all of you, we were able to pass along to the Big Peach Outreach program 365 pairs of shoes.  That is 100 more pairs than last year!  Way to go!

A Reminder About Battery Recycling

Don’t forget – there is a large box in the MediaCenter for collecting your used batteries.   Bring them on in – the Environmental Club will take care of the rest!  Here is the list of batteries we can accept:

  • Nickel Cadmium (NI-CD); nickel metal hydride (NI-MH)
  • Lithium Ion (LI-Ion) with cobaltate technology
  • Cell phones
  • Cell phone batteries
  • Power tool batteries
  • Laptop batteries
  • Digital camera batteries
  • Video camera batteries
  • Any type of Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-Ion rechargeable battery
  • Alkaline (household batteries), lithium primary batteries
  • Dry sealed-cell and power-pack batteries

No wet cell batteries will be accepted. Battery terminals must be taped over or placed in individual baggies.

 GREEN LUNCHES

Did you know that The average school lunch generates 67 pounds of waste during one school year (EPA.gov).  If 15,000 families commit to packing waste-free lunches, one million pounds of waste can be eliminated from our landfills.

For more information on how you make changes in your lunchboxes, check out the Green My Lunch Movement at  http://www.greenmylunchbox.com/
